About Dave

What David Novalinski enjoys the most about being a home inspector is helping home buyers and homeowners make educated decisions about their homes.  He does this by performing an in depth inspection of their home and taking the time to explain each of his findings with his client.  Also during the course of the inspection, David points out maintenance items and gives tips on how to keep the home in good shape.  After the inspection is done and the report is completed, whether it is a new purchase, a maintenance inspection, or a vacation inspection, the homeowner has a clear idea of what needs to be done.  Some of his clients have said “I would happily and whole-heartedly recommend About Your Home Inspection, Inc. to ANY family or friends. Thank you!”

David has been interested in home repairs and maintenance since he was a kid.  He learned many of his skills from his father as they remodeled his childhood home together.  Sometimes the lesson of the day was ways not to do things, but learning was the key.  Those projects are what planted the seed.  After high school, David joined the US Marine Corps and spent his four year enlistment repairing helicopters.  When he left the Marines, David took a position as a mechanic at TWA to repair passenger jets.  While a mechanic for the airline, David got married to his high school sweetheart, Julie, bought their first home together, and started a family.  The career proved to be short lived, but the marriage and family are going strong.

Since that time, David has held positions in several different career fields including Die Maker, Mold Maker, and Building Maintenance.  While each of these fields are different, the attention to detail and mechanical skills used in those jobs have helped to make him a better Home Inspector.  With all those career changes, one thing has remained constant, David has continued to enjoy home maintenance and repair.

David took the required courses to become a Home Inspector at the Inspection Training Associates and passed with flying colors.  I guess all those things ‘Dad’ showed him really panned out.  David then took the test administered by the IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation) to become a certified Home Inspector in Illinois.

David started About Your Home Inspection, Inc. in June, 2006.   Owning and operating his company is a dream come true.  His goal is to give home buyers and homeowners ‘Peace of Mind’ by giving them valuable information they can use to make educated decisions when purchasing and maintaining their homes.

Other interests in David’s life are The Chicagoland Ride for Kids, MDA Summercamp, and Association of Horizon Summer Camp
