Comment on Is Your Asphalt Driveway A Good First Impression? by My Driveway Dr.

I think a option that adds to the advantages of asphalt is stamped asphalt. It has a lot of additional pros to just plain asphalt. Because of the StreetBond poly cement coating you never need to seal coat. The coating also allows for the flexibility of asphalt with the strength of concrete. It is almost no maintenance because the coating doesnt require seal coating ever, it helps the driveway retain its oils, and it is stain/chemcial/weather/thaw resistant. Also, with the right foundation and coating it have your asphalt driveway last almost twice as long as a regular one. And it is the least expensive as compared to all other decorative options. As a plus it is also eco friendly. Just a thought, great article.

Great blog about camp Dave! I could not agree more on the experience. It was a great week! I think we all go in to a new experience with some concern and uncertainty, but over and over again it turns out to be unfounded. Horizon Camp was a great experience, and the organization is outstanding. Anyone interested in volunteering, or supporting the organization should visit their website for more details. They are certainly worthy of your consideration and support!

I believe we have a mutual friend that inspired me to write on this topic today. As you mentioned, she and her family are fine, but all the stories don't have such happy endings. I hope I inspired someone to be more proactive in maintaining their dryer and other such appliances.

Thank you, Gloria, for your kind words.

Thanks Dave for the very informative post on dryer fires. One of my friends in my community just had a fire 2 weeks ago. Lucky she and her family are fine.

I had Dave inspect our home just last year and we followed up with all the points in our home that needed attention. We were very happy with Dave's professionalism and quality of the attention he paid to our home.
Thanks Dave

Thank you for your comment. I can’t comment on what other home inspectors do during their inspections, but I can tell you how I operate.
As a Home Inspector I perform a visual inspection on the general condition of the fireplace and chimney. I do not use a scope or camera and therefore do not comment on the condition of the chimney liner. My recommendation to my client is always to have the chimney swept and inspected before use, and to repeat this process as recommended by the chimney sweep.
Thanks again,
Dave

Dave, I am a chimney sweep in the Seattle area and have noticed a great deal of inspectors either: skip, barely, or falsely inspect homeowners chimneys. I would suggest anyone getting a home inspection get a second opinion about their chimney from a licensed chimney sweep company. Inspections are usually free or a small fee. My company is Pristine Sweeps and we offer free inspections in the Seattle area. You can find more information by talking to a Seattle chimney sweep or visiting our site at www.chimney-sweep-seattle.com.
